Volunteering In Bosnia and Herzegovina

Cao svima!

In this week’s podcast episode, we’re sharing our experiences with volunteering in the motherland. Most Mira is a UK and Bosnia based charity that focuses on building bridges between divided communities, specifically in the northwestern region of BiH. Their ‘Project on Peacebuilding’ is a week-long program that engages students in the history, political context, and processes of change since the Dayton Peace Accords. Held during the summer months, the experience is perfect for young diaspora who are interested in establishing cross-cultural connections.

Below you will find some photographs taken by Minela Sejdin, who participated in the program this past summer in 2018. To hear Minela speak about her experiences with the program in more detail, click HERE.

Emina Pelja volunteered with Mostar Summer Youth Programme (MSYP), a 3-week long summer educational program that provides students aged 14-19 from Mostar and the surrounding areas with opportunities to improve their self-confidence and key skills. The program breaks down the walls put up by the segregated school system that is prevalent throughout most of BiH and brings together students from all nationalities.
